CRS

Compulsory Registration Scheme — BIS certification for electronics and IT products, based on lab testing with no factory inspection.

The Compulsory Registration Scheme (CRS) is BIS's product certification framework for electronics and IT products mandated under MeitY notifications. Unlike ISI Mark and FMCS, CRS requires only lab testing — there is no factory inspection.

CRS registration is per product model. Both domestic manufacturers and foreign manufacturers or Indian importers can apply. Registration is done through the BIS Connect portal (crsbis.in). The R-CRS mark and registration number are affixed on each registered product.

Covered products include mobile phones, laptops, LED lights, chargers, power banks, TVs, routers, UPS, and 100+ other electronics categories. CRS registration is valid for 2 years and renewed at ₹10,000 + GST.
