Marking Fee
A per-unit fee paid by ISI Mark licence holders to BIS for each product unit bearing the ISI Mark.
The marking fee is a royalty-style fee paid by ISI Mark licence holders to BIS for each unit of product bearing the ISI Mark that is manufactured and sold. The rate is specified per IS standard in BIS's fee schedule and is typically a small per-unit amount (e.g., ₹0.05–₹0.50 per unit depending on the product).
Marking fees are reported periodically (monthly or quarterly) to BIS by the licence holder. Underpayment or late payment of marking fees can lead to licence suspension. For high-volume manufacturers, annual marking fee obligations can be significant even if the per-unit rate is small.
