Mandatory BIS CRS registration requirements for mobile phones, laptops, LED lights, chargers, TVs, routers, and 100+ other electronics products sold in India.
Consumer electronics and IT products sold in India are regulated under the BIS Compulsory Registration Scheme (CRS), mandated by MeitY (Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology). Unlike most other BIS schemes, CRS requires no factory inspection — only lab testing. Both overseas manufacturers and Indian importers can apply directly, making CRS the fastest route to BIS compliance for electronics.

Electronics and IT products use CRS — not ISI Mark or FMCS. CRS requires only lab testing at a BIS-recognised laboratory. Registration is per product model and valid for 2 years. The mark affixed is R-CRS, not the ISI logo.
